Send a letter abroad from Sweden

You do not need a printer, envelopes or Swedish stamps, and you never have to find a postbox. You write the letter in the browser, or upload a PDF, fill in the recipient's address and pay by card.

We print the letter on A4 paper in Sweden, fold it, put it in an envelope, frank it and hand it to PostNord. From that point it is an ordinary Swedish international letter and travels exactly as one.

This matters most if you have just moved to Sweden. You do not need a Swedish postal account, you do not need to interpret a Swedish stamp machine, and nothing in the ordering process requires you to read Swedish.

This is the one rule that catches out almost every English-speaking sender. Your letter is sorted in Sweden before it leaves the country, and Swedish outbound sorting reads the last line of the address to decide where the letter goes. It reads Swedish country names.

So a letter to Germany ends with TYSKLAND, a letter to the United Kingdom with STORBRITANNIEN, and a letter to the United States with USA. The rest of the address stays exactly as a postal worker in the destination country would write it — that person is the one who has to deliver it.

A standard letter is 88 SEK and an express letter 128 SEK, to every country in the world. There are no zones and no weight surprises: printing, paper, envelope, postage and hand-in are included in that price.

Extra pages cost 18 SEK each and colour printing 14 SEK per page. Prices are in Swedish kronor and you pay by card.

Delivery time depends entirely on the destination. Within the Nordic countries a letter normally arrives in 2–5 working days; within Europe 3–8; to North America 6–20; to Asia, Africa, South America and Oceania anywhere between 8 and 25 working days.

Express shortens our hand-in, not the flight. It gets your letter into the postal system faster, which typically saves a day or two, but it does not change the postal route in the destination country.

Yes, as Rek utrikes. It may contain documents only, weighs no more than 2 kg and carries liability up to 2,000 SEK. It can be tracked to most countries and only one recipient may be named.

Banknotes and coins are prohibited in international letters, in any currency. Dangerous goods are prohibited. Goods sent outside the EU require a customs declaration and a barcode that an ordinary letter does not have.

Yes. The letter itself can be written in any language, the address is copied from what your recipient gives you, and the only Swedish word you need is the country name on the last line, which each country page gives you.
