What is registered mail?
Registered mail (Rek) is PostNord's service where the recipient must show ID and sign to pick up the letter. The signature is the whole point: it works as proof that the letter was sent, arrived and was received. That's why Rek is used when it really matters – terminations, contracts and important official mail.
The letter is tracked with a tracking number, the recipient is notified and picks it up at their agent. If not collected within 14 days it's returned to sender – also documented.
When do you need Rek?
Terminations with notice periods: rental contracts, gym memberships, subscriptions and employment – where you must prove when the notice was sent. Legal documents: claims, cancellations and formal notices. Important agreements and certificates. Official mail where you want black-on-white proof of receipt.
Rule of thumb: if not being able to prove receipt could cost you money or a right – send registered.
How it works at Posta Brev

At a PostNord agent Rek costs 146 SEK – and you still do all the work yourself: print, envelope and queue. Buy postage on postnord.se and you pay 116 SEK but still have to print the label, sort out the envelope and go to an agent.
At Posta Brev registered mail costs 219 SEK – and that includes everything: paper, envelope, postage, handover and tracking number by email. You're paying to skip the whole chain, not just the postage.
How long does it take?
We hand your Rek letter to PostNord the same or next business day. The recipient is normally notified within 2–4 business days and can then pick up the letter against ID. It waits at the agent for 14 days.
